Machines are one thing, people are another.

Expert guidance to discover the right clients, develop a strong culture, and even wrangle those pesky engineers so you can give up the building stuff you think is cool and instead deliver what the world really needs.

I discovered along my journey that I love engineering the company just as much as the product.

After successfully exiting my company, I took time for myself to fully unplug, reset, and go down the rabbit holes of self-care and discovery that so many of us avoid.

I apply the lessons learned from this work to my practice with CEOs and founders navigating their own paths to success. My one-on-one, deep-dive weekly sessions are focused on goals and measurable outcomes that we set, track, and adapt together.

My job isn’t to give you all the answers.

I don’t think there’s only one way to do things, and if there is it certainly isn’t my way.

Instead, my job is to be an empathetic ear that you can be 100% honest with, no bullshit, no ego, and no judgment so that we can figure out your why and map that to your what and how.

How we can work together:

I went on a journey from the front edges of the space race with SpaceX to founding my own company.

Along the way, I acutely felt the pressure inherent to bootstrapping a space hardware company in Alaska.

I know what you’re thinking: Bootstrapping? Hardware? Alaska!?

It felt crazy to us, too.

But we had a vision of a calm company that built cutting-edge technology and helped rocket companies launch from a part of the world we loved.

Instead of crazy, we called it audacious, unprecedented, and often just plain fun (even if some days it was Type II fun).

Maybe you understand that, too.

After all, you became an entrepreneur because you have a vision some people think is crazy, and because you fell in love with a seemingly intractable challenge.

You became a hardware entrepreneur because you’re a glutton for punishment (just kidding, kind of).

My Approach

Open each section to discover how my process focuses on measurable results, asynchronous progress, and the way to discover your genius while cutting down on busy work through process and automation.

  • We start by identifying the areas you want to work, and tying measurable outcomes to each that we can track.

Typically, I focus on one large goal, one medium goal, and a few smaller wins for our 12-week engagement.

  • I use Asana to track goal progress, sub-tasks, and each of our homework assignments. Though we will have a standing call, tracking goals through a transparent tool means we can also work asynchronously between check-in's.

  • More than just "what" and "how" I like to work with founders to discover their "why."

Why go through all the effort to create cutting edge technologies and companies when the couch and a normal 9-to-5 are right there?!

Understanding your unique strengths and your true, implicit motivation will help you get clear on why you're doing all this in the first place.

  • You will have access to all my templates for project management, design reviews, 1-1's and more that I have used to help companies scale.

You will also have access to my back-office processes and automations to help relieve time wasters, improve delegation, and get you into your Zone of Genius.

  • "When you're a founder in a bind, you can sink a lot of time searching the internet for dubious advice, or you can just ask Ben (it'll be a more pleasant experience, too). Whatever the issue, he's probably wrestled with it before himself when the stakes involved literal rocket science. Ben leverages his extensive expertise to break down hard problems, offer real solutions, and, crucially, lower your heart rate when the going gets tough."

  • "Ben is one of the few people I turn to when I need advice on business. More than once, his advice has turned out to seem prophetic. Ben often goes against the grain, not because he's blindly countercultural, but because he's innovative, honest, and thinks critically. I greatly appreciate his unique perspective and his insights; he's consistently helped me see things in a new light, making a significant positive impact on my business strategy. Beyond business, Ben is genuinely helpful on a human level, recognizing personal, mental, and spiritual hurdles as just as important as practical business challenges."
